Informational
The red panda is located from the foothills of Nepal to Eastern China. They are native to the temperate forest of the Himalayas. They are generally quiet but sometimes have twittering and whistling sounds. They are known to be very nocturnal, for they sleep on tree branches in the day, and increase their activity at night. When it is hot, they sleep with their legs sprawled out, but when it is cold, they wrap their tail up with their legs. The panda cleans itself like a cat would, by licking itself everywhere. Red pandas "mark" their territory with urine and a strong smelling secretion from their anal glands, and check them daily to make sure no one is invading them. Snow leopards and humans are the only common predators. One of the most popular red pandas is Futa, who is known for standing upright for longer than ten seconds. The red panda is known to eat bamboo, small mammals, birds, eggs, flowers, and berries. Red Pandas reproduction can start at around 18 months of age, and they are usually anti-social until mating season. A red panda is pregnant for about 5 1/2 months, and they give birth to blind and deaf cubs. Mothers can instantly recognize their children by their smell, and spend majority of their time with them. They slowly spend less time with the babies, until they are fully mature.
