Endangerment
In April, 2015, the IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, declared the Red Panda endangered. This panda got that classification after IUCN found only 10,000 of its species left in the world. The red panda has been extirpated from the provinces of Guizhou, Gangsu, Shaanxi, Qinghai. How could all of these cute little animals get killed? Many of these furry animals have been killed over habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and inbreeding depression. Poaching is the act of illegal hunting, and inbreeding depression is the decrease of health towards inbred animals. Why are these animals being poached? Many people kill red pandas to use their fur for clothing, while their tail is made into a feather duster. Many people go to hunt these animals because they are defenseless and an easy target, even though these animals are protected by national laws for their endangerment. China, Nepal, and India have started conserving natural zones to the red panda. As cute as they are, people would rather have "cool" clothing than protect the lives of many small and harmless animals.
